Do night owls have a hard time staying fit? According to a new study conducted at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, those who are late to bed and late to rise have a harder time sticking to a fitness regime. According to the study, night owls lead a more sedentary life, as they are less likely than early risers to exercise regularly.

Kelly Glazer Baron, associate professor of neurology and director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at the Feinberg School of Medicine, led the study. Findings also found that late-risers tend to make more excuses when it comes to exercise. The night owls surveyed also reported that they spend more minutes of the day sitting, particularly on weekends.
